Game recap: Let’s start with this – It is really a shame that one team had to lose today. Both Partizan NIS and Budućnost VOLI showed great desire to win this match and to advance to the 2018 ABA Super Cup Final. At the end, it was Budućnost VOLI who prevailed, after overtime.
Key moments: Partizan NIS have been in front during most of the game, but it was Budućnost VOLI who had a chance to win the match in the last second of the 4th quarter. Nikola Ivanović pulled up for a long range 2-pointer, but he missed the shot so the two sides remained all tied - 76:76.
In the overtime, Budućnost VOLI made an early 7:0 run and escaped to 83:76, but Partizan NIS answered with a quick 6 points and reduced the gap to just 1 point – 83:82. After that both sides scored a 2-pointer – 85:84, while then Budućnost VOLI made the last and crucial blow. They scored 4 points in a row and increased their lead to 89:84. There was not enough time for Partizan NIS to make the big comeback.
Man of the match: Petar Popović! This man scored 8 points for Budućnost VOLI in the overtime and paved the way toward the win for his team. Interesting enough, Popović have scored just 6 points until the overtime.
Can’t trick the stats: Budućnost VOLI lost the battle in the paint as they had 11 rebounds less than Partizan NIS. However, the Blue team were very aggressive defensively, so they had 10 steals and forced their rivals to make 19 turnovers.
